Nursery- Week ending 20.10.2017

This week we have been learning:

 

  • To compare objects by size, sorting things into ‘too heavy to pick up’ and ‘light enough to pick up’
  • The letter sound ‘d’: We have enjoyed playing with the ducks in the water tray, playing with the dinosaurs, rolling the dice and playing doctors in our role play area.
  • All about harvest- we made some delicious vegetable soup and had fun printing with different vegetables
  • To sequence pictures from ‘Little Daisy’ to help us retell the story

Next week we will be learning the letter sound ‘e’. Ben & Betty would love to see what objects you can find starting with our special sound. Please could you find something starting with the letter sound ‘e’ and bring it in for your friends to see.

On Tuesday we will be having a Halloween dress up day- children can come to school dressed up in a costume if they would like!

Nursery- Week ending 13.10.2017

This week we have been learning….

  • To retell the story of ‘Little Daisy’ using Pie Corbett actions
  • To compare objects by size, categorising objects into ‘large’ and ‘small’
  • The letter sound ‘c’: We have enjoyed carrot printing, playing with the cars and food tasting. We tasted cucumber, cauliflower, cabbage, crisps and cake.
  • All about Autumn- we enjoyed looking for signs of Autumn in the park!

Next week we will be learning the letter sound ‘d’. Ben & Betty would love to see what objects you can find starting with our special sound. Please could you find something starting with the letter sound ‘d’ and bring it in for your friends to see.

Reminder- £1 milk and fruit money is due every Monday for every child please.

Homework- Please complete the family tree to help us with our topic work at school.

MacMillan Coffee Morning

We will be holding a coffee morning to raise funds for this charity between 10.45- 11.45 am on Friday 29th September. Mrs Nicklin would love to get to know you over a coffee and cake so please come along and meet our new Headteacher.

Nursery-Week Ending 26.05.2017

This week we have been…..

  • adding two numbers together
  • exploring the park environment to complete a plant and flower hunt
  • learning how to take care of our environment: we enjoyed planting, sweeping the yard, washing plant pots, making grass snakes and bird feeders.
  • learning the rhyme ‘Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary’

We enjoyed listening to Sarah Williams read us new stories and teach us songs related to our topic ‘Growing Things’.

  • understand the concept of ‘one more’ in their play
  • count reliably
  • participate in discussions with other children and/ or adults
  • listen and join in with songs, rhymes and stories

Nursery- Week ending 31.03.2017

This week we have been learning….

  • The letter sound ‘p’- we have enjoyed painting, printing patterns and colouring in a pirate mask.
  • To create a Little Red Hen from natural materials we collected from around the park.
  • To write a sorry letter to The Little Red Hen from the animals in the story.
  • The following words- melt, freeze, water and ice. We had lots of fun exploring ice in the water tray.
  • To understand that you can communicate via email.

Please can you practise retelling the poem ‘A Little Seed’ over the weekend. We will be performing the poem in our Easter Service on Tuesday.

  • Count reliably
  • Demonstrate an awareness pf the purpose of money through role play
  • Link picture cards or objects with spoken initial sounds

Nursery- Week ending 17.03.2017

This week we have been….

Learning the letter sound ‘n’- we have enjoyed shooting the ball in the net and directing Beebot to pictures of objects that start with ‘n’.

Learning to retell the story ‘The Little Red Hen’ using Pie Corbett actions.

Creating a story map to help us retell ‘The Little Red Hen’.

Making musical instruments.

Sorting 3-d shapes by shape, beginning to recognise cubes and spheres.

Nursery- Week ending 03.03.2017

In Nursery we have enjoyed…..

  • Making pancakes
  • Celebrating St David’s Day- we had lots of fun performing in the assembly, completing colourings and puzzles, making Welsh cakes and tasting different food from Wales
  • Comparing numbers; talking about large and small numbers
  • Moving safely using different shapes and direction of travel on the small apparatus

Valentine’s Disco

Our Valentine’s Disco will be held on Thursday February 16th 5-6.30pm. There will be games, crafts and refreshments. Tickets will be available from the school office from Monday February 6th, priced £1.50 which includes a free raffle for the ticket.

Nursery- Week ending 04.11.2016

This week we have been learning to…..

  • Talk about ‘large’ and ‘small’ numbers.
  • Make a magic potion and a spell jar.
  • Find parts of the body hidden around the park and put them together to complete the picture.
  • Retell the story ‘Little Daisy’ using Pie Corbett actions.
  • Move around the hall in different ways to represent a witch, cat, frog and skeleton etc. Next week we will be learning the letter sound ‘f’.
