Week Beginning: Monday 11th September

Autumn Term 2017 Year 5

We have had a successful second week in Year 5. The children have settled into their class really well and are getting used to new routines.

This week, the children have been learning to:

  • Identify mis-spelt words and use new strategies to spell them correctly
  • Share their knowledge of World War Two and think about what they would like to find out
  • Understand propaganda and look at propaganda posters
  • Plan a propaganda poster
  • Complete Roald Dahl Maths activities
  • Learn about Roald Dahl and read his books
  • Use multi-skills to balance, catch, throw and move within given spaces

Reminders:

  • PE is Monday. Unless raining, we will be outside. Please make sure your child has warm clothes to wear for PE.
  • Children who have chosen to learn the guitar will have lessons every Tuesday. If they have their own guitar, can they please bring it into school each Tuesday. If not, school will provide one.
  • Please make sure children read at home as much as possible and bring their reading book into school every day.
  • Please make sure children’s names are on their jumpers so that they can be easily identified.

This term we will be studying World War Two. If you know anyone who would like to come in and talk to the children about life at this time, please let me know. We would love them to pop in and chat to the class!

Have a lovely weekend!

Many Thanks

Miss Steel and Mr Jones
