Rights Respecting Schools
Parchu Hawliau Ysgol
The Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) recognises achievement in putting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) at the heart of a school’s planning, policies, practice and ethos. A rights-respecting school not only teaches about children’s rights but also models rights and respect in all its relationships: between teachers / adults and pupils, between adults and between pupils.
At Waun Wen we are working together to raise awareness of children’s rights in a variety of ways and sharing our ideas with other schools.
More information about rights and schools can be found here:

Here is Llew, our Rights Respecting Mascot. He is in all of our classes and reminds us of our rights. Llew goes to stay at children’s homes for the weekend and reports back on all of the rights he sees. Each Foundation Phase class have a book of Llew’s travels!
Since achieving our Level 1 Rights Respecting School Award, we have been busy continuing our hard work this year. Please see Twitter for updates on our fortnightly meetings.
