  • Comparing weight of objects – using a bucket balance

This week we have been learning to……. (13.10.17)

  • Comparing lengths of objects – using sticks, spaghetti, giant footprints and our footprints
  • Use the correct vocabulary for length and measuring correctly
  • Predict the storyline of a film using the soundtrack, a story capsule and still images
  • Name parts of the body
  • Look for signs of Autumn, explore the autumn tuff spot and make autumn crowns
  • Move in different ways – twirling helicopters, scuttling hedgehogs, floating leaves etc

This week we have been learning to ……(6.10.17)

  • Adding two numbers together/ partitioning a number – using beans on toast, two colour duplo blocks, numicon, beanbags and hoops
  • Read a number sentence
  • Talk about our Me boxes and listen for sentence starters in each other’s talk
  • Recognise letter sounds and use them to make words
  • Read a story together
  • Write letter sounds from the baseline
  • Sing songs for Harvest and learn new assembly songs
  • Listen to music and move in different ways
  • Complete activities the children planned on the rhyme 1,2,3,4,5

This week in Reception we have been learning to…….(29.9.17)

  • Add 1more to a number, using leaves, cheerios, paper chains, peg boards, numicon and numbers
  • Recognise letter sounds and use them to make simple words / Read a story together in a group
  • Form letters correctly from the baseline
  • Complete activities the children planned from the rhyme “Incy Wincy Spider”
  • Sing songs for Harvest and assembly
  • Use family vocabulary, sing songs about families and listen to stories
  • Move in different ways to tell the story of The Volcano
  • Help others by baking for the school coffee morning and raise money for Macmillan.

 

Thank you to those who attended Family Learning on Tuesday – it would be great to have more parents this week so please come along and work with your child at 1pm.

MacMillan Coffee Morning

We will be holding a coffee morning to raise funds for this charity between 10.45- 11.45 am on Friday 29th September. Mrs Nicklin would love to get to know you over a coffee and cake so please come along and meet our new Headteacher.

This week in Reception we have been learning to….(22.9.17)

  • Recognise and name 2D shapes – make shapes using sticks, make shaped biscuits, paint shapes, cut shapes and make playdough shapes using cutters
  • Program Bee Bot to trace a shape
  • Recognise letter sounds and use them to make simple words – complete jigsaws and use letter cubes
  • Form letters correctly from the baseline
  • Complete activities the children planned from the story “Noah and the Ark”
  • Sing songs for Harvest
  • Talk about our families and play a game, draw our families
  • Learn about our senses and what parts of the body we use for each sense
  • Listen carefully, complete different movements and challenges in P.E

Family Learning starts at 1pm on Tuesday – please come along and work with your child.

This week in Reception we have been learning…..(15.9.17)

How to be a successful learner:

We talked about what helps us to learn and what stops us from learning and helpful and unhelpful talk.

We learnt the Golden Rules of the school.

Our teachers have been modelling good playing, sharing and sitting.

We have completed activities on number and mark making.

We have been counting to 10 and recognising numbers to 10.

We listened to the story of Noah and the Ark.

We have been planning our topic – Family Album.

• Find numbers between numbers
• Sequence numbers
• Record our observations of our sunflower growth
• Write the next part of our welsh book – Jac a’r goeden fawr
• Play barrier games with Jack and the Beanstalk
• Use our spelling journals confidently
• Read and write HFW
• Practise for sports day
• Set up 2 new science experiments

Today we are bringing home our sunflowers to plant in our gardens. We are hoping to see some great photographs of very tall flowers! Happy gardening!
